Remembering Monica Marian Gura
Monica Marian Gura, formerly of Youngstown and later of Peabody, Massachusetts, died peacefully on 24 March 2025 at age 92.
She was born in Struthers on 31 January 1933, one of the fourteen children of John M. Gura and Anna Marie (Lucas) Gura. Monica and her twin sister, Marian Monica Gura, entered the Daughters of St. Paul convent in Boston at age 13. Monica remained in religious life for 33 years, later lived and worked in Pittsburgh, and then returned to the Boston area to be near Marian.
The obituary notes her deep affection for her large family and for the stories of growing up in Struthers. She was survived by her sister Ann Marie Fabilli, her brother James Gura, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
